We were saddened to learn of Ruth Beechick's death in late 2013. Ruth was a lifelong teacher, both in the classroom and as a curriculum writer. She was a mentor to the late Debbie Strayer, author of our Trail Guide to Learning series. Ruth's teaching philosophies heavily influenced Debbie's and helped shape the Trail Guide to Learning series. Ruth will be greatly missed. To honor Ruth and her contributions to homeschooling, we are giving away a copy of three of her books: The Three R's, You Can Teach Your Child Successfully, and Dr. Beechick's Homeschool Answer Book. I love her approach to education, a more natural and intentional way of raising our children and educating them at the same time, not focusing on the “test taking” success

I loved her philosophy of teaching. She had a way with encouraging me that I could homeschool my children successfully.

I have not read her books, but the quotes posted last night were very inspirational, especially the one about letting children read without asking literary questions. My oldest is only in kindergarten, and I’m already guilty of that! I think reading her books would be a great help in our homeschool.

I don’t know that I have read any of her books, though they have always been on my list to read.

In a nutshell? Ruth Beechick and Debbie Strayer made my homeschooling successful. Their Biblical encouragement and common sense approach to learning helped me make quality choices in our day to day lessons, and kept me from wasting time on approaches that would serve to discourage my children from the love of learning. I have purchased all of Ruth’s books, but have loaned them out to friends. It a blessing to see the fruit of Ruth’s hands come to life in children as I loan these books to weary mommies. So, I won’t be keeping the books, if I win. They will be passed from mom to mom…and I will watch children blossom!
