We were saddened to learn of Ruth Beechick's death in late 2013. Ruth was a lifelong teacher, both in the classroom and as a curriculum writer. She was a mentor to the late Debbie Strayer, author of our Trail Guide to Learning series. Ruth's teaching philosophies heavily influenced Debbie's and helped shape the Trail Guide to Learning series. Ruth will be greatly missed. To honor Ruth and her contributions to homeschooling, we are giving away a copy of three of her books: The Three R's, You Can Teach Your Child Successfully, and Dr. Beechick's Homeschool Answer Book. I just started looking into her books. I am graduating one child this year and the next oldest will be a junior. However, I still have 2 younger ones in middle and elementary school and I want learning to be fun and engaging. I am afraid my older two missed out on that in those early years.

Her teachings helped me realize how do-able homeschooling really is.

I have not read her books, but the quotes posted last night were very inspirational, especially the one about letting children read without asking literary questions. My oldest is only in kindergarten, and I’m already guilty of that! I think reading her books would be a great help in our homeschool.

I loved her philosophy of teaching. She had a way with encouraging me that I could homeschool my children successfully.

I love her approach to education, a more natural and intentional way of raising our children and educating them at the same time, not focusing on the “test taking” success
